Hello,
There is 5 bugs in the debian packages which are fixed in the CVS. At least
I hope so. Pierre, can you confirm that those bugs are dead?
Debian should release someday in september (of this year). So, the
distribution will become frozen soon, making it impossible to upload new
versions. So, I'd like to get 0.17.2 out of the door before this happens.
I just fuzzied a whole bunch of strings, and I'm sorry about that. This
habit of putting "po4a::module: " before the error messages is a good one,
but this string is not translatable and should be removed from the gettext
argument.
What we really need is a function embeeding the call to warn and sprintf,
and reputting the module in front of it and the "\n" afterward (but not the
dgettext since it has to be there to be able to extract the strings). It
would help making the code more readable. We could also implement a sort of
wrapping function setting the module name in front of every line. There is a
module for that in Perl.
Anyway. Please stop modifying strings now without good reason (I mainly
speak to myself, according to recent history). Please do not add new feature
to the stuff we want to release (everything beside msgselect and Xml.pm --
same remark).
And it would be cool if you could update the translations, but the release
will wait for you, take your time. I always feel bad to ask you to do
something. Even more when most of the work is caused by my lastest weird idea.
Of course, if the bugs do not reveal to be fixed, the release is delayed.

If there's no step back since the last release, and there are new features
and bugs fixed... it's a good moment.

I'll try to have the encoding issue working soon. It would be a big step
for po4a, and it would enable a basic (but working) use of the XML module.
It would be very nice to get this (0.18?) release into sarge.

(student life ;) and I want to do my best to help this good project. Also,
you're the mantainer, and it's good to have some guidelines on what are
the highest priority tasks :P

Yes, 0.18 will either be the one with a msgselect working, or a fixed
encoding stuff, whichever first feature comes first. I guess it'll be the
encoding one. msgselect is far less work, but my life is just crazzy for the
next month... 0.19 may be the other one, or maybe XML? It's still far away.
But we have to get 0.17.2 out before doing further big changes, IMHO.

Cool, thanks. I'm post-doc now soon teachter, and if I have an advice, it
would be to enjoy the student life ;)
I'll try to have a look at the %entities; issues in header, and we may
release tomorrow. Huh, wait, I'll certainly have to introduce strings to fix
that. But since it's a bug which hurts you, Jordi, I guess that you won't
mind if I fix it anyway.
It may also happen that I don't find the time to chase that bug down and
that we release with it around ;)

You shouldn't have said so. I created two next strings in the process of
handling those damn %entities;, and added some more documentation about what
the tag class are, now that I kind of remember.
Indeed, I've found what "indent" is. Those tag are placed alone on a line,
and with enough leading space to make the document look nice. The only issue
is that for now, all tags are in the indent class (beside the verbatim ones).
Fixing it shouldn't be difficult, but then we'll have to go through the tag
list to detect the ones which belong to this class and add them there. And
it may fuzzy all sgml documents using po4a :-/
Oh, and during the process of fixing the %entity; bug, I've found another
one. If you handle a file in, says, /tmp/index.sgml then the included files
are searched in the directory from where you launch the command instead of
relative to the master file location. I reported it against alioth, I'm
gonna do this another time.
Sorry for the fuzzies, this time I'm done with what I wanted to include in
0.17.2. If you feel the same, I'm gonna tag the cvs and go for the release
process.

Well, for the addendum to work, you need to make sure that the document is
well formated. But I guess it's not the case right now, and that's it's the
whole point of http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=263300
I guess that we will have to go through the process of fixing the "indent"
handling (only applying it to the tags of the relevant class), and this bug
should go away on its own.
Maybe, "section" are the ones which are alone on their line, "indent"
are
the ones which begin tag is at the begining of the line, and end tag
followed by a new line. So, book is a section, and title is an indent so
that we get "<book>", "</book>" and "
<title>toto</title>" each being alone
on a line. This is how it should be for addendums, but I'm still not sure
how to fix it to get it back (it used to be the case :-/)

to be ok. It's very nice to see my whole document gettextized without
