I think this is a bug. It's the same that happened some time ago when we had the italian translation in utf-8, but now we can't fall back. The solution would be to add a "-L, --localized-charset" option to po4a-translate (and some equivalent for the po4a script), to force the conversion of the translated document to the specified charset (so that the generated po4a documentation could come back to iso8859-1, for example). Currently I don't have many time available to spend with po4a :( In february I'll have some vacation weeks, so I'll be back to full activity, but maybe it's so far in time. This issue should be solved before a new po4a release. If you plan to make a new release soon, please announce it as soon as posible, so I can try to solve it. Regards, Jordi Vilalta
