Don't you think this information is precious anyway in the files?
It is annoying not only for us, but also for people keeping generated
files under version control. We cannot tell that po4a is robust because
it has been tested only by few persons, and so I for one prefer keeping
generated files under version control for my own packages (to detect
content changes), ie. po-debconf for now and a Debiandoc SGML document
(release-notes.en.sgml) should follow soon.
When po4a is more tested and proven to be robust, generated files can
be removed from CVS/SVN repositories and writing po4a version number
into generated files becomes harmless.
This is just my opinion, you can change this behaviour if you fix test
cases ;)
