Can you have a look at this patch.
I think it deals with this issue.
It adds two options:
with-non_breaking_spaces disabled by default
with-hyphen_to_minus enabled by default
(and also a debug one)
It worked with the ldd man page.
I will launch another testsuite's check pass and will commit it tomorrow
(if nobody stop me before)
