I think it's a bug.
Can you check again (i.e. having the translation different from the
original string).
when i pass "-o foldattributes" to po4a-translate, it translates and unfolds
everything correctly.
when i don't, it unfolds attributes but it doesn't translate strings that
contained foldable attributes (it does translate other standard strings,
however). it's indeed confusing and a check would be good to avoid this
mistake.
I also think it is too long. An option could be to use a slightly
invalid
XML construct <tag 0>, or a very improbable valid XML construct <tag-0>
sure, these look good, just pick the easier to implement. :)
