Hello, I'm on
irc.debian.org, #po4a right now.
I hope to see you here.
Sorry for the very short announcement of the meeting. It was to coordinate
the 0.20 release. Jordi and Nekral were here.
We released the version, tagged the CVS, uploaded the package to alioth,
debian and gentoo.
We said a word about what's next. Here are the ideas which came out:
Nekral wants to do some more TeX work, and maybe improve french translations
(using peer review on debian-l10n-french).
I still have to fix a bug in the sgml module, but I get convinced with the
time that this module should be rewritten (to remove nsgml). But basing this
on the xml module does not look feasible because of sgml specific features
(such as conditional inclusion). I guess I'll stick to the current design
and simply fix the most visible issues.
My problem is that po4a does not make me as much fun as it used to. I'm glad
others took over the active development, and guess that I'll stick to my
actual active observer role.
Other items which came to mind were
- steal the modules from the translation project (
OO.org and mozilla, for
example)
- continue work on configuration file:
- allow to specify module options
- use it in all scripts
- support for multi-language formats, such as desktop and debconf. I'm
personnaly waiting for Denis input on the recently added modules for that.
- support for xliff format along with po one. I guess it could be done
without changing anything else than Po.pm. But I'm not personnaly fon of
it. Let's wait for the editors such as kbabel to do the move, and then
produce those files, not the other way around were we would produce
useless files.
If you want to help, or have other ideas, you're welcome.
For now, I'd prefer us to delay a bit new development, just in case any
issue were discovered in this release forcing us to do a bug fix release.
Ie, I plan a 0.20.1 release before the 0.21 work begins...
