[Po4a-devel]po4a::xml: error messages

Hello,
I tried to play a bit with the new xml module, and I found very infortunate
that it does not say where the issues are, if any. The reference in the file
really should be added to such messages. The best example of this may be
"Unexpected closing tag. The main document may be wrong." When you see that,
there is nothing you can do beside opening a bug against po4a...

Jordi, is there any way to make this message more useful, such as specifying
the line on which the non-ascii char were found, or at least the file in
which it occures?

[Po4a-devel]Encoding stuff breaks po4a(1)

We need a way to pass the charsets values on the command line or within the
config file (or boths).
The command line approach is trivial if we're ok to have the same encoding
for all files. The config file is not very difficult under the same
assumtion.
If we remove this assumption, it becomes more difficult. Very difficult
indeed, check the code of po4a.

That's very strange. When I enable the debug, the references are correct,
ie, the line pointed by the reference of the generated file and the line
pointed by the reference of the original file do match. But then, the
reference which lands in the po file does not match.
It looks like a few '\n' are not seen by po4a. Indeed, it takes the
reference which it should have taken a few lines before. So, I guess that
nsgmls takes the liberty to remove some \n where they are not mandatory.
I have no idea.
I guess we should try to extract the reference recomputation and file
inclusion out of Sgml.pm to TransTractor, and see if the problem still
occure in Xml.pm, for example.
The prototype of the function in TT should be:
includefile($pre,$filename,$post);
so that "bliblu<include href="toto"/>blobla" can be dealt with properly.
The action would be to open the file in a @variable, generate the
corresponding references ("refinmainfile:33 refinnewfile:44", first one=ref
at which we found the inclusion request, second naturally incrementing the
line number), and then unshiftline() all lines (begining with the last one)
of the @variable into the document.
The reference issue would also disappear since the stuff before the
inclusion is already eaten when includefile is called, and since we
unshiftline the stuff, we cannot mess with what comes afterward. We only
have to generate the right ref for the included file, which is trivial.

Ok, that's enough for this bug and this case, but the addendum tests are
still broken in a rather scary way. I'd like to fix it before the release
(and I'll have to since Build.pl won't let me release before). But not
tonight, it's time to bed.
And that's unfortunate, I really need to work...

[Po4a-devel][VAC] 21/8 - mid september

Hello,
I leave california on the 21th. I leave my laptop there (property of the
lab). So, when I arrive in France, I'll have no computer, no connexion, and
not even a place to live...
Given the amount of spam I get, I do not expect to be able to check mails by
webmail or whatever before mid-september, when thing comes clear with my new
employer. I hope I won't loose any mail, but Erm. I'm not sure my account
will survive the load.
I am sorry about that, and I hope we manage to get 0.18 out there before the
21 august (which is, btw, my birthday). I'm short on time, but I'll do my
duty.
Afterward, well. Jordi, I just gave you the full privileges on the alioth
project. You can now recruit new people, for example. If a new translator
comes, please give him the cvs commit right. You also have the right to kick
people out of the project (including me), but please don't ;)
Once 0.18 is out of there, we shouldn't need to make a new version before I
come back. If it happens, Pierre has both the authorisations and the
knowledge to build a new version of po4a and push it both to the alioth
server and the debian one. I really hope it won't be necessary since I don't
want to put any extra burden on you, but who knows ?

Hello,
I was admiring the new translation and trying to read it (without really
speaking italian) when I discovered some encoding issues. It looks like UTF8
chars handled by a non utf-ready tool.
After some investigation, it's possible that the corruption comes from the
po file itself. I'm really not sure dudes. I'm such a disaster with encoding
issues, my machine is badly configured and it's even possible that the po
file is clean but my less is broken.
For the web page, I'm rather sure there is an issue.

I've been trying rsync, and it seems alioth doesn't suport it. Then, to
improve the current way of html upload, I've made it to set the group
write permisions.
Martin, can you delete "Locale" and "html" from the server? You're the
only one with write permisions for them and they're not neded anymore.
